By way of an intro - I encountered the books of Carlos Castaneda some time in the late 70's. I had an opportunity to meet him through a friend of mine when I worked at the LA Times but passed. However, an acquaintance of mine did meet Carlos and his opinion of him I thought was perhaps the most valid I've encountered: he considered him a scribe.

A few days ago I was having a chat during a meeting with someone I was doing some work for.. Suddenly we were talking about cars stuck in the snow, the weather, and life. And as it is costume for me, I started to talk how life seems sometimes a lot to take, and for the most part, it looks like a harsh journey. I guess they're the reason for most of the troubles some of us perceive lately, for outbursts of behavior that are unexplainable both to ourselves and to others, and for a general sense of memory weakness and clarity loss.
